This is a short history of the ChoP project from my point of view.
Everything started at the turn of the years 2006 and 2007. Zen Lu wrote an e-mail to me about his music and we started our correspondence. His EP was published by etalabel.com and than we agreed that a new Chinese – Polish sound project would be a good idea. First we decided to exchange a set of samples and in our case, we agreed to compose four tracks for our CD. And after a few months the first ChoP CD was ready: “over a foul line / simple questions”. It was published in Poland by www.etalabel.com and in China by Zen Lu’s new record label WE PLAY! (www.weplay.cn).
Zen had some plans to play in Goetheborg and than he was coming to Poland, to take part in the project called Chinese Sound Art in Poland. Luckily Zen Lu had some time and I took him to my place. I organized a first gig of ChoP in Częstochowa (Café Belg - 15.06.2007). We had also a home sessions in my messy home studio. It also appeared that Jarek Grzesica from Warsaw Electronic Festival is a big fan of ChoP project, and he invited both of us to play in Jazz Radio during his Future Shock radio broadcast.
All those events and days we spent in my home were great! He had a really nice time, although we had some unexpected adventures (like e.g. in Warsaw, before the radio show, I had to find Zen Lu, because he got out of the train not in the main railway station – but we managed!) A lot of funny memories
When Zen Lu came back to China, we decided to find next artists to continue the ChoP project. Therefore now ChoP project consists of four CDs, and we hope to have more in the near future.
Thank you all.
